Match Day 11 NPFL Preview: Dolphins face Sharks in Port Harcourt derby, as Wolves hunt Pillars

After a lengthy three weeks break imposed by the League Management Company, actions will resume in the Nigeria Premier Football League as Week 11 matches are to be played across the country.

Soccernet brings you a preview of all the 10 games slated for the 14th of June 2015.

    Giwa FC vs Gabros United

It's a battle of the 6th and 4th as Giwa FC lock horns with Gabros United in Jos. The Jos Elephants are gradually turning into the draw specialists having drawn half of their ten games played so far.

The former league leaders will hope league topscorer, Ibrahim Shuaibu who already boasts five goals can fire them to victory. Both teams are tied on 17 points but Gabros will look to inflict the first home defeat on Giwa FC or at least grind out a point.

    Dolphins vs Sharks FC

It is the battle of the water lords as Dolphins ambush Sharks in the fiery Port Harcourt derby.
It has not been a great start to the season for the two sides with just two points and three places separating them.

Dolphins have ten points and are ranked 16th and will know that a win is not impossible against their 19th-placed neighbours who have only earned a point out of a possible 15 on away grounds.

    El-Kanemi Warriors vs Taraba FC

The Borno Warriors are one of only four sides to still have a hundred percent home win record (the others being Warri Wolves, Kano Pillars and Sunshine Stars) and will see no reason why Taraba FC should not be condemned to their third loss of the campaign.

After a great start to the season when they even recorded an encouraging 1-0 win at Akwa United, 12th-ranked Taraba FC have watched their season slow down. But having lost only an away game, the visitors will be optimistic of spoiling the party for their hosts.

    Wikki Tourists and Enyimba FC

It's the battle of the Elephants in Bauchi as 5th placed Tourists scrap for the win with the Aba Millionaires who currently sit 3rd on the log.

Enyimba FC, who have already won twice away from home, will seek to expose the weakness of the Bauchi giants who have failed to win in only one game at home this season.

    Heartland FC vs Bayelsa United

There will be no hiding place for relegation threatened Bayelsa United when they keep a date with Heartland in Owerri on Sunday.

The homers may have been largely inconsistent so far having won five and lost five in their 10 games played, yet their 5-2 spanking of Nasarawa United is a constant reminder to visitors to the Dan Anyiam Stadium of the hell awaiting them.

    Shooting Stars vs Lobi Stars

It's the battle of the league strugglers as bottom side 3SC, who only have eight points to their illustrious name, entertain the Makurdi giants who are just a point better in 18th place.

The Oluyole Warriors have however played a game less and they boast a loyal following in Ibadan that can inspire them to triumph over their visitors.

    Nasarawa United vs Akwa United

It's a delicately poised mid-table affair between the 11th placed hosts and their 15th-placed guests.
Nasarawa United have not lost a game at home while Akwa United have not won a match away.

But with just a single point separating the two teams, Akwa United will travel to Lafia knowing that a rare away win will see them overtake their hosts.

    Kwara United vs Rangers Intl

There will be only victory on the mind of the Afonja Warriors when they trade tackles with fumbling Rangers of Enugu in Ilorin.

Kwara United are looking for their fourth home win of the league year but Rangers, who are yet to record an away win this season, will know a win in Ilorin, where Heartland claimed a famous 1-3 win, is not mission impossible.

    Abia Warriors vs Sunshine Stars

10th-ranked Abia Warriors have an unenviable task of shooting down league leaders Sunshine Stars.

There's a huge 7-point difference between the two teams and the Akure lords will travel with the confidence and swagger of a side that have only lost an away game all season, a 0-1 reverse at Giwa FC.

    Warri Wolves vs Kano Pillars

Warri Wolves will look to hunt defending champions Pillars at the Warri Township Stadium, the same grounds where Giwa FC were humiliated 3-0.

The Seasiders have an impressive 13 points from only seven games played and have been invincible at home where they have made a slaughter slab.

Kano Pillars may boast their own incredible run of home games without defeat but their away form has been appalling, losing four of five games.
